Sand tray therapy is a technique which can be used to facilitate healing in adults, adolescents, and children, allowing them to express their thoughts and feelings when words alone are not enough. In addition to its therapeutic use, sand tray can be a tool for personal growth and the development of creativity.

Now Offering Trauma Focused Therapy (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

At Swan Therapy Group, we offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy to help individuals process difficult or distressing experiences that may continue to affect their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationships.

EMDR is an evidence-based therapeutic approach that can help the brain process experiences that feel “stuck.” While EMDR is often associated with trauma and PTSD, it can also be helpful for individuals experiencing anxiety, panic, grief, phobias, low self-esteem, difficult life experiences, and other emotional challenges.

During EMDR therapy, a trained therapist helps you safely identify and process distressing memories, beliefs, emotions, and physical sensations while using bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements or other forms of alternating stimulation. Over time, this process can help reduce the emotional intensity associated with difficult experiences and support the development of healthier, more adaptive beliefs and coping strategies.

EMDR does not require you to go into extensive detail about every aspect of a traumatic experience. Instead, your therapist will work collaboratively with you to establish safety and coping skills before beginning the processing phase. Treatment is individualized and progresses at a pace that feels appropriate for you.

EMDR may be appropriate for children, adolescents, and adults, depending on their developmental needs, presenting concerns, and readiness for this type of therapy.

If you are interested in learning whether EMDR may be a good fit for you or your child, our clinicians would be happy to discuss your needs and help determine an appropriate treatment approach.
